Privacy Policy

Talkzy is a teleprompter and video recorder for iPhone and iPad. This policy says how the app uses your camera, microphone and voice, and which data leaves your device.

Summary

Your scripts, your voice and your videos do not leave your device (scripts go to your own iCloud only if you turn on iCloud sync, and to another person only when you send one as a link yourself). Talkzy has no server that receives them and no account system.

Three kinds of data are sent out automatically: purchase data, through RevenueCat, so the app knows whether you have bought Talkzy Pro; anonymous usage statistics, through Google Analytics for Firebase; and crash reports, through Firebase Crashlytics. The statistics and crash reports are part of how the app works and cannot be switched off in it — which is why they are limited to what is listed below and never include your scripts, voice, videos or anything you type. Feedback is sent only if you write it and tap Send yourself. Details below.

Script links

In Talkzy you can send a script as a link (talkzy.io.vn/s#…). The script is compressed into the part of the link after the # — the part a browser never sends to a server. So the script is not uploaded to this website, to Vercel or anywhere else: the /s page unpacks and shows it on the reader’s device, and that page has no analytics.

Anyone with the link can read the script, so send it only to people you mean to. Opened in the app, a link only shows a preview; the script is added only when the recipient taps Add.

Speech recognition

When you turn on voice-follow, Talkzy asks for Speech Recognition permission. It uses only Apple’s on-device recognizers (SpeechAnalyzer, or SFSpeechRecognizer with on-device recognition required). If your language has no on-device recognizer, Talkzy offers timed scrolling instead — it never falls back to server-based recognition.

The recognized words are used only to find your place in the script, in the moment. They are not stored and not sent anywhere.

Camera and microphone

Talkzy asks for camera and microphone access to record your takes, and uses the microphone to listen while voice-follow is on. They are active only while the recording screen or voice-follow is open.

Video and audio are written to the app’s private storage on the device. They are not sent to Apple, to me, or to anyone else.

Talkzy does not detect, recognize, analyze or identify faces, and it creates no face data (no face template, landmarks, expressions or face map). The camera image is only recorded as your own video, and that video is handled as described above: kept in the app’s private storage, saved to Photos only if you turn that on, never uploaded or shared, and kept until you delete the take or the app.

Photos

If you turn on saving to Photos, Talkzy asks for permission to add each take to your library, and for access to create an album named after the script. Talkzy does not read or upload your other photos and videos.

Data that does leave your device

Talkzy uses RevenueCat to manage Talkzy Pro purchases. When the app starts, and when you buy or restore, RevenueCat’s SDK sends its servers:

  • An anonymous app user ID generated by RevenueCat — not your name, email or an account.
  • The device identifier Apple gives developers (identifier for vendor).
  • Your Talkzy Pro purchase history and subscription status.

This data serves one purpose: knowing whether Pro is unlocked. It is not linked to your identity and not used for advertising.

Payment itself is handled by Apple. Talkzy never sees your card details.

Anonymous usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

Since version 1.1 (build 6), Talkzy uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count how the app is used, so we can see which features help and where people get stuck. It is always on in the app; there is no setting to turn it off. Some earlier 1.1 builds had a “Share anonymous usage statistics” switch; updated versions no longer have it, and a choice made with it is no longer applied.

What is sent: app interactions from a fixed list (for example “a script was created by pasting”, “the prompter was opened with the camera”, “a take was saved, 1–3 minutes long”, “the paywall was shown or closed”, “a purchase succeeded or failed”), the names of the screens you open, whether you have Pro, the app language, and what Google Analytics adds on its own: a random app-instance ID, device model, iOS and app version, and a coarse location (country or region) that Google derives from your IP address.

What these statistics never include: your scripts or their titles, anything you type, your voice, videos or recognized words, file names or paths, precise location, contacts, your name or email, and the advertising identifier (IDFA). Talkzy does not include Apple’s AdSupport framework, never shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt, and turns off ad storage, ad personalization signals and the identifier for vendor in Google Analytics.

Google processes this data on our behalf as a service provider; it is not linked to your identity and not used for advertising or to track you across apps. Event data is kept for 2 months (the Google Analytics default) and then deleted; aggregated reports may be kept longer. Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

The iPhone and iPad app uses Firebase Crashlytics, also from Google, to tell us when the app crashes or hits a serious error, so we can fix it. Like the usage statistics, it is always on and cannot be turned off in the app.

A crash report contains: the technical trace of where in Talkzy’s code the problem happened (and, for an app error, the error message the app produced), the time, device model, iOS and app version, device state at that moment (such as free memory and disk space, orientation and whether the app was in the foreground), and a random installation ID that Crashlytics generates.

A crash report never includes your scripts or their titles, anything you type, your voice, videos or recognized words, file names, your name or email, or the advertising identifier. Talkzy sets no user ID, custom keys or logs in Crashlytics.

Google processes crash reports on our behalf as a service provider; they are not linked to your identity and not used for advertising or tracking. Crashlytics keeps crash reports for 90 days. Firebase’s privacy information: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

What is never collected

  • Your scripts, voice, videos or recognized words
  • Name, phone number, contacts — or your email, unless you choose to enter it in feedback you send
  • Precise location
  • The advertising identifier (IDFA)

Talkzy contains no advertising SDK and does not track you across other apps or websites. Its only analytics and diagnostics are the anonymous usage statistics and crash reports described above. If that ever changes, this policy and the App Store privacy label will be updated before that build ships.

Data stored on your device

Scripts, takes, settings and the count of free voice-follow takes used are stored in the app’s private storage. Only scripts are synced, and only to your own iCloud, if you turn on iCloud sync (Pro).

Deleting a script or take in the app, or deleting the app, removes that data. Copies saved to Photos stay in Photos until you delete them.

When you share

When you share a take, iOS opens the share sheet and the file goes where you choose. If you email support, the email goes through your own Mail app.

Feedback you send us

Talkzy has an optional “Feedback & bug report” form. Nothing is sent unless you open it and tap Send — the app never sends feedback on its own.

When you tap Send, we receive:

  • The message you type.
  • Your email address, only if you enter one — used only to reply to you.
  • Your app version, iOS version, device type (iPhone or iPad) and app language.
  • A random install identifier generated by the app. It is not linked to your Apple ID or any account, and is used only to limit spam.

Feedback is stored on our own backend, hosted by Supabase in Singapore (ap-southeast-1), and a notification with your message is forwarded to the developer's private Telegram chat. Your network IP address is kept only as a one-way hash, for at most one hour, to rate-limit submissions.

Feedback is never used for tracking, advertising or analytics, never sold or shared, and not linked to your identity.

We keep feedback until the issue is handled, then delete it. To have anything you sent deleted, email vanthuong.dao2004@gmail.com with roughly when you sent it and what it said (or the email address you used).

Children

Talkzy has no user-generated content from others and no in-app web browser. It does not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

Because there is no account, there is no personal profile on our side for you to access or delete. If you sent feedback, you can have it deleted — see “Feedback you send us”. If you want the anonymous user ID held by RevenueCat deleted, email me and I will take care of it.

Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports cannot be switched off in the app, and contain nothing that identifies you. Deleting the app stops them and resets its random app-instance and installation IDs; past event data expires after 2 months and crash reports after 90 days.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the App Store release notes.

This website: visit statistics (Google Analytics)

This website, not the app, uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and to see which pages and links are used, so the site can be improved. Google processes this data on our behalf as a service provider.

What is collected: the pages you open, the site you came from, clicks on links that leave this site (such as the App Store button), and coarse device, browser, language and country or region information. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies in your browser to tell one visit from another.

What is never collected: your name, your email address, or anything you type on this site. This data is not used for advertising and is not shared with data brokers.

Pages that open a script link (talkzy.io.vn/s) are not measured at all: the script sits in the part of the link after the #, which never reaches us or Google.

Google Analytics keeps this event data for 2 months (its default retention) and then deletes it. To opt out, block Google Analytics with a browser extension or turn off cookies for this site; the website and the app keep working. This section covers the website only; the app is covered in the sections above.
